Effective August 13, 2026 · Piney Ridge Labs
This is the agreement for using Tack. Installing or using it means accepting it. It sits alongside the Terms of Purchase, which cover price and refunds, and the Privacy Policy, which covers what Tack sends and when.
A personal, non-exclusive licence to install and use Tack on up to 3 Macs you use yourself, for as long as you like. It does not expire, and it is not a subscription. Your licence covers Tack and its updates.
A licence is for one person. A household or a company can buy as many as it needs, but one licence does not cover a team.
Worth knowing before you agree, because it is unusual. Tack needs macOS Accessibility permission, which lets it read window titles and move, resize, show and hide the windows of other applications — that is what grouping is. It also calls undocumented macOS window-server functions, which is the only way to move and layer windows without flicker.
Two consequences follow:
Tack is licensed, not sold. Piney Ridge Labs keeps ownership of it. You keep everything of yours — your documents, your windows, your work. Tack claims no rights in anything you use it on.
Tack is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. The 14-day trial is the full product, and it exists so you can find out whether Tack works on your Mac, with your applications, before paying for it.
Piney Ridge Labs' total liability under this agreement is limited to what you paid for Tack. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost data, lost profits or lost time.
Some places do not allow limits like these. Where the law says one does not hold, it does not, and the rest of this agreement still stands.
You can stop using Tack whenever you like; Settings → License → "Deactivate This Mac" frees the slot. A full refund ends the licence. Breaking the terms above ends it too. Ending a licence gives us no claim on anything of yours — delete Tack and that is the end of it.
Tack includes Sparkle, which handles updates, under its own licence. The notices are on the Acknowledgements page.
If this agreement changes, the version you agreed to keeps applying to the version of Tack you already have. Installing a later update means accepting the agreement as it stands here at that time.
This agreement is governed by the laws of the United States.
